Learn Electronic Music Production with The Robot Guy
July 13 @ 3:00 pm - August 7 @ 5:00 pm EDT$475
An Interactive Online STEM+Music Camp for Ages 12-18
No equipment or experience necessary! We meet online (via Zoom) on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for 4 weeks.
Today’s music producers use software programs to create and perform. In this course, we teach you to use Ableton Live, the most popular software program for electronic music production.
If you’ve been to one of our LEGO Robot camps, then you know all about The Robot Guy. He doesn’t only teach robotics! Learn from him in live, interactive online sessions where you can share your screen to get help and advice with your music. Better yet, you’ll have access to one-on-one tutoring from Ohn_Daka, an EDM producer with years of experience.
The course is built around a series of music production projects that will help you to develop your skills and explore your musicality. Learn at your own pace by watching tutorials from our private library of over 100 videos, each on a specific music production technique. In our live Zoom sessions, The Robot Guy and Ohn_Daka will check out your projects, answer all your questions, and offer additional tips/advice based on your specific interests. You’ll even have the opportunity to collaborate with other young musicians in your group (optional)!
The only equipment required is the Ableton Live software (free 90 day trial available here) and a Mac or PC that meets the minimum system requirements listed on that same page.
Here’s where it all starts! No matter what your skills are coming into this, we make sure that by the end of the first week you’ll have gained a solid understanding of the Ableton Live interface, workflow, and how to make it work for you! You’ll understand and be able to confidently utilize basic rhythm theory in your beats, and will be able design your own drums sounds from scratch, using your own unique kits to create effective and professional-sounding beats that are truly one-on-a-kind. You’ll also have had the opportunity to work collaboratively to craft a beat with another producer from your cohort, receiving personalized feedback along the way from knowledgeable Bleeps+Loops instructors.
